Dr. VITO VRICELLA, O.D., F.I.A.O. – Optometrist & Owner

A St. Louis native, Dr. Vricella completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology in 2005 where he graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. Louis University, there he was awarded a full four-year tuition scholarship. He moved on to complete his Doctorate in Optometry in 2009 with honors at the University of Missouri – St. Louis where he serves as an adjunct clinical professor. He has had extensive training in contact lenses and medical eyecare at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH and is Board Certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. Dr. Vricella provides comprehensive eye care including prescribing eyeglasses, contact lenses, refractive surgery consultation, and ocular disease management that includes treating and managing glaucoma, diabetes, and macular degeneration. He has additional training in pediatric optometry and Orthokeratology. He is also the team eye doctor for the professional soccer team STLFC here in St. Louis. A member of the AOA and the MOA, Dr. Vricella is a guest lecturer at UMSL and is fluent in both Italian and conversational in Spanish, he welcomes these new patients to the office. Dr. Vricella is a member of the Fenton Lion’s Club and Fenton Chamber of Commerce and has been since 2009. He is also a member of the American Academy of Orthokeratology and is the premiere physician in St. Louis performing WAVEFRONT ORTHOKERATOLOGY and has been for years. He has been in eyecare serving the St. Louis area for over twenty years, and he resides in Chesterfield, MO. In his free time, Dr. Vricella enjoys spending time with his family, fast exotic cars, international soccer, and playing piano.


Dr. Kate Gettinger grew up in a small town in upstate Illinois and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Truman State University, also spending time studying abroad in Brno, Czech Republic at Masaryk University. She worked throughout her entire undergraduate career at an optometrist’s office and fell in love with the profession, deciding to attend the University of Missouri-St. Louis Optometry School attaining her Doctorate in Optometry. She performed rotations at the Norton Sound Health Corporation in Nome, Alaska as well as the Kansas City Veterans Affairs Hospital. She received honors for her specialization in low vision, including the William Feinbloom Low Vision Award.

In addition to low vision and geriatrics, Dr. Gettinger enjoys treating and managing dry eye, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetes. Outside of the office, Dr. Gettinger routinely contributes to optometry publications and writes both educational and advocacy articles for practitioners. Currently residing in the Tower Grove area of St. Louis, Dr. Gettinger enjoys spending time outdoors with her dog, trying new foods and dining out at local restaurants, playing trivia, brushing up on her French language skills, and finding new challenges and activities to occupy her time.

Dr. MASON F. BIAS, M.D., F.A.C.S. – Cataract Surgeon

A native of St. Louis, Dr. Bias graduated from Country Day School in 1984. After attending Rice University, he received his undergraduate degree from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Dr. Bias earned his medical degree at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. Following an internship at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Dr. Bias completed his residency in ophthalmology at USAF Wilford Hall Medical Center. He then served as Chief of Ophthalmology at Keesler AFB Medical Center, and finished his military educational commitment at the Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine.

Dr. Bias specializes in Advanced Cataract Care, utilizing the “No-Shot, No-Stitch, No-Patch” surgical approach that offers patients rapid visual recovery after surgery. Additionally, he is pleased to offer Custom Laser Vision Correction (LASIK) to improve distance vision and Comprehensive Ophthalmology care. Dr. Bias lives in St. Louis with his wife and three children, and has practiced in Missouri since 2001, returning to his home state after serving our country for seven years on active duty in the United States Air Force.

Dr. B. WAYNE DUDNEY, M.D. – Retina Specialist

Dr. B. Wayne Dudney is our retina surgeon, specializing in diabetic eye care, retina tears and detachments, and age-related macular degeneration. Dr. Dudney’s personal attention to each of his patients sets him apart from other retina specialists in the St. Louis and Swansea, Illinois areas.

Dr. B. Wayne Dudney earned his medical degree with honors from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and completed a vitreo-retinal surgical fellowship at the National Retina Institute in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr. Dudney is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the Retina Associates of St. Louis.
